The University of Hidalgo

Mexico is one of the youngest countries in the world. Estimates say that 68% of the population is under 26 years of age. Ministries and outreaches to high schools, universities and young professionals are crucial to the future growth and health of the Christian church in Mexico. Therefore the Pachuca Project is proposing the formation of THE LiNK MINISTRY CENTER to focus in on this important demographic.

The State University of Hidalgo (UAEH), located in Pachuca, is the largest university of Hidalgo — with somewhere around 29,000 students — and there are several additional public and private universities in this growing state capital of 1.5 million people.

The vision of the Pachuca Project is to create a healthy Christian environment through THE LiNK MINISTRY CENTER. This Internet café will be a place where young adults can get to know Christ and have opportunities for fellowship and to develop relationships and Christian community. The Link will also be planned in such a way that it will help with school activities and academic and professional projects.

This Internet cafe will be a multifunctional outreach center to youth and professionals, consisting of 5 areas:

  • The Coffee House: A coffee shop and small restaurant to sell beverages and food.
  • The Office Center: A place to rent computers, make copies, print and use other office resources for business and academic projects.
  • The Learning Center: Provide English, computer and other related classes for academic development and personal enrichment.
  • The Christian Bookstore: A bookstore with a large Christian section where all kinds of literature and resources can be found and purchased. Individuals will be able to read for free while they drink coffee or buy books and take them home.
  • The Outreach Center: Evangelistic events such as Bible studies, moderated discussions and debates, small concerts during the weekends with Christian artist and bands, cell meetings, counseling, and regular conferences about issues that concern youth and young professionals.
