Jubilee Anniversary!

Bere sings during anniversaryOn February 18, 2007 the Jubilee Christian Church had its first celebration in a hotel by the state university. Jubilee quickly became a congregation of 60 people with the cell (small group) ministries starting very soon after. During the first anniversary 198 people were present. This year’s anniversary was a wonderful day and surpassed the record with 205 people present. Somewhere around 25 first time visitors, most of whom were from Pachuca, helped to make  this year’s anniversary exciting. Therefore we must do follow-up on several families and individuals.

The worship team led the church in a beautiful song service that really blessed the congregation. A short movie was also presented celebrating the major events of the last year, including the many baptisms during the year. Also a group of 13 new members that had transferred to Jubilee was presented to the congregation.

Following the service of celebration most people stayed to eat together a very traditional meal called “mixotes.” This is a meal of chicken, potatoes and cactus cooked with spices in a plastic bag, wrapped in foil and then served with rice and tortillas. The celebration finished with a birthday cake. We enjoyed a great time of fellowship.

We are praying that the next year will be as exciting and growth-filled as the second year. Even now the leadership of Jubilee is considering a second celebration service which will be a major step, but room in the rented facility is starting to become a challenge as the congregation grows toward an average of 140 on Sunday mornings.

Thank-you so much for your prayers for the new church for for your gifts that sustains the church planting ministry in Pachuca.
