Escape From Hate

andrea smile

She was someone that made you feel that darkness surrounded her.  Andrea oozed hate!  And that hate often led to violence for which she was known. Andrea had reason for hate.  She can remember being sexually abused as early as 7 years old.  The hate and resentment that grew from those early years affected her life as she moved between men and raised her children. That hate and violence extended to even looking for someone to kill her son-in-law who had abandoned her daughter with four young boys. Andrea suffered; she was bitter and … [Read more...]

English Program: Help Wanted

ingles

The English teaching program of the Pachuca Project is restarting after two years. Dee Duggins is teaching two classes on Tuesday and Thursday, and she also helps at a small home school. We know the TESL program can expand contacts throughout Pachuca, especially with the universities and professionals. Though the TESL program is effective, the time that Dee can dedicate to the program is limited. We are therefore looking for help with the TESL program. The Pachuca Project team is looking for: Administrators: We are looking for someone … [Read more...]

Our IMPACTO Latino Team had a very exciting summit last weekend as 16 representatives from nine supporting congregations participated with us in our first VISION SUMMIT in Pachuca. We were greatly blessed by each person who participated and we saw this group of individuals come together in a fellowship as many left this weekend with new friendships. Some important conclusions were reached during the summit and we wanted to share these with you. The VICTORY CELEBRATION at the Jubilee Christian Church was wonderful! Jorge Del Angel delivered … [Read more...]

English TESL program expanding

english teaching

Dee Duggins is once again beginning the English teaching program as an outreach ministry here in Pachuca. English teaching has been an effective program to expand contacts in Pachuca. However, in the last couple of years the program has had some setbacks to its development. Our recruited administrator for the Friendship Institute was forced to return to the United States after her father’s death almost two years ago. Because of Dee’s responsibilities in other ministries, she was unable to dedicate major time to the English program. Starting … [Read more...]

Vision Summit quickly approaching

The IMPACTO Latino team is gearing up for the VISION SUMMIT here in Pachuca that is quickly approaching on September 26 and 27. The Summit weekend will begin on Sunday when the Jubilee Church will celebrate the collection of the land purchase deposit. Following the celebration, the Jubilee church and the U.S. visitors will enjoy a meal together. … [Read more...]

Men’s Retreat

retiro de hombres

Jorge Del Angel and Luke Greer took on the leadership at Jubilee to plan the first Men’s Retreat for the congregation. As plans progressed, the retreat was expanded to include men from the El Camino church in Mexico City. We ended up with about 43 men participating, including a group from First Christian Church of Champaign, IL who led in the teaching time at the retreat. Two men from two other congregations participated, one here in Pachuca and another from the State of Mexico. The retreat was a wonderful time of fellowship and … [Read more...]

In the years since 2006 the drug wars in Mexico have become a major concern. More than 28,000 people have died in the growing violence associated with the war. Though many in the drug trade have died, many innocents have also suffered or died through the violence perpetrated in many areas of Mexico. There are even reports that drug gangs are asking for protection money and threatening Evangelical churches in the border area. Some commentators are saying that if the Mexican government does not get control of this situation, Mexico could become … [Read more...]
