History
The Pachuca Project began in 1995 with evangelistic Bible Studies. The first Celebration Service was held on January 6, 1996 with 14 individuals present. Today that church, New Hope, is a congregation of more than 400 and continues to expand its cell ministry throughout Pachuca. The New Hope Church is now completely led and supported by nationals.
In 2006 plans were made for the first multiplication of the New Hope church to a second congregation. A group of 30 members from New Hope were invited to participate in the founding of the Jubilee Christian Church on the east side of Pachuca. On February 11, 2007 the New Hope church commissioned this core group and also installed the two elders of the new congregation.
Missionary Eric Duggins and National Ministry Worker Jorge Del Angel were named as Elders of this new congregation. On February 18, the first worship service was held in the Hotel Del Valle Inn by the State University of Hidalgo. 91 people were present for this first celebration. Its first six cells will began to meet in March 2007. The young congregation continues to grow — both numerically and in maturity. Now two other missionary families also work with the project: the Alvarados and the Greers.
The Jubilee Church presently rents a building for that also serves as a bookstore and youth center. The building will hopefully house an Internet Café as an additional outreach to the youth in the community.
IMPACTO Latino’s Pachuca Project is an expanding church planting project. Prayers and vision are already in the works for a third congregation in the Pachuca area. Though a few years away, this third congregation will be the next step as the New Hope and the Jubilee congregations work together to reach this dynamic, growing city of 1.5 million.
