Missionaries to Latin America since 2007 when they joined the Impacto Latino and the Pachuca Project. Sergio and Holly graduated from Kentucky Christian College and have a heart for young people. Also, they are planning The LiNK Ministry Center.
Sergio Alvarado was born in Mexico City in 1981 but has lived most of his life in Pachuca, Mexico. While he was in High School, he worked and lived on his own when his family moved back to Mexico City. At age sixteen he was invited to the New Hope church and a few months later accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized.
After his baptism he participated in evangelism, the worship group, youth leadership and leadership training ministries. During that last year of his High School studies, Sergio felt the calling to enter the ministry and began to research educational options. Once he got his visa to come to the States he studied Intercultural Studies/Missions and Ministry at Kentucky Christian University. His passion, apart from working in the ministry, has been working with computers. Sergio is a self-taught web designer and programmer.
Holly was born in 1982 in the city of Bandung, Indonesia, where her parents where missionaries. When she was two her mom and dad became part of the Mexico City Church Planting team and for the next 11 years she lived in this great Latin American city. At age thirteen her family moved to Pachuca to start a cell-church. Holly attended bilingual schools in Mexico City and Pachuca and she was baptized when she was ten years old. Holly began her studies at Kentucky Christian University in the year 2000 in the area of Psychology and Family Counseling.
Holly and Sergio met at New Hope where they were both youth leaders in the youth cell and participated in worship team. They also completed the Cell Leadership Training at the New Hope Church. For the first three years while at KCU they helped with the Hispanic ministry of the Southland Christian Church in Lexington Kentucky each weekend. Sergio and Holly were married on December 19th, 2003 in Pachuca, Mexico and returned to the States to finish college. Soon after they were married they started helping at a Hispanic church in Grayson, KY, where they lead Bible Studies, music and Sergio often preached.
Holly graduated in May 2004 and has been working as a Spanish High School teacher at a Christian School. Sergio graduated in May 2006 and is currently contacting churches for their fund raising and is designing web pages on the side. Their daughter, Andrea Abigail (Abby), was born December 18, 2006 in Ashalnd, KY.
Sergio and Holly were accepted as missionary recruits with IMPACTO Latino in November 2005 and since then have begun their fund raising with the prayer they will be leaving for Mexico no later than January 2008. They will be participating with Eric and Dee Duggins in the formation of a new church in Pachuca and they will spearhead a ministry directed to the University community throughout this state capital in Mexico.
